Claimed storefront

The green check means this storefront or market listing is claimed and managed by the vendor or organizer who runs it — rather than being an unclaimed directory listing we created from public information. It is not an inspection, endorsement, or safety review.

Credential pills

Some category families — meat & jerky, farm-raised bison & elk, exempt poultry, seafood, live plants, and raw dairy — legally require a government license, permit, exemption registration, or inspection. Before a vendor can list in one, they submit their credential documentation to Local Fresh, and we review it as a basic eligibility check (for USDA establishment numbers, we also match against the USDA's public establishment directory). The pill names the credential the vendor holds:

A few categories — eggs, skincare, and soap — instead require the vendor to sign a structured attestation about their labeling and legal basis for selling. Attestations don't come with a pill; they are a listing requirement, not a reviewed credential.

What we do notdo: inspect farms or kitchens, test products, authenticate documents beyond the checks above, or monitor a vendor's ongoing compliance. A credential reduces — but never eliminates — the risk of foodborne illness.

Homemade food disclosures

Many vendors sell under Utah's cottage food rules or the Utah Home Consumption and Homemade Food Act. Those products may be made in a home kitchen that is not licensed, regulated, or inspected by state or local health authorities — the product page and checkout tell you when that applies. Raw or unpasteurized products (including raw milk) carry a higher risk of foodborne illness, especially for young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.
